Azevedo (AUS)

Azevedo is a nine year old Bay stallion with a race record that includes five wins, including placings in Group 1, Group 2 and listed races, and shows all the hallmarks of a promising stallion.
During his racing carear Azevedo won over $180,000 in prize money for his connections and the time has now come for this talented son of Helissio to embark on the next stage of his carear as a stallion.
Brilliant Leader (AUS)
Sire: Danehill (USA) Stud: Park Crest Stud Fee: $2,200
By Danehill from the sensational NZ family of La Mer.
Raced his whole career in Hong Kong netting 3 wins, 4 seconds and 4 thirds for earnings of almost HK$2.2 million. Won over 1800, 2000 and 2400 metres.
His grandam is the New Zealand champion mare La Mer who won 24 races, of which 17 were Group races, including 3 wins as a 2 YO. She won from 1200 to 2400 metres including group classics like the Air New Zealand Stakes, New Zealand Oaks, Sires Produce, International Stakes, Great Northern Oaks etc.
As a sire he has already produced winners from 850 to 2200 metres including Malandrina who has won $125,000.
He is a tough and durable son of Danehill, with an outstanding pedigree and from limited opportunities at stud has produced a crop of very talented gallopers.
El Maggiore (AUS)

Standing at Bowthorpe Stud for his fourth season, EL Maggiore is proving himself to be a consistent producer of quality foals.
El Maggiore offers the opportunity to access the famed El Prado bloodlines in Australia.

Estambul (ARG)
Sire: Kitwood (ARG) Stud: Park Crest Stud Fee: $4,400
Estambul is a particularly attractive individual, a quality stallion with a lot of presence. A very powerful horse, it is easy to see where his speed originates.
He has good, correct leg conformation; and offers a lovely front with an attractive head, to set off a tremendous shoulder and hind quarter. His temperament is also excellent.
It is therefore of no surprise that Estambul’s first runners have quickly shown ability. From the time they went to the breakers, the reports have been very strong, leading to big books of 123 mares in 2007 and 130 mares in 2008.
Estambul offers a unique pedigree. From one of the world’s most influential sire lines which is becoming highly successful under Australian race conditions. His sire has one of the most commercially acceptable pedigrees the world has known whilst his dam hails from one of the most dominantly successful families that South America has produced.
Helike (USA)
Sire: Rahy (USA) Stud: Armidale Stud Fee: $3,300
By a son of Blushing Groom in Champion Sire Rahy from a French Oaks winning mare East of the Moon, whose dam is the Champion Racemare and Broodmare Miesque (10 Group 1 wins).
Miesque is dam of Champion Racehorse and sire Kingmambo.
Helike offers Tasmanian breeders another world class pedigree and a real outcross for Northern Dancer, Mr Prospector, and Star Kingdom line mares.
Helike was a multiple winner and stakesplaced in France, and is a beautifully conformed horse. His oldest progeny are yearlings.
Incumbent (AUS)
Sire: Choisir AUS) Stud: Grenville Stud Fee: $4,400
In a short but brilliant racing career, Incumbent raced amongst the best with outstanding success.
Incumbent was an authoritive winner of the Group 2 VRC Sires Produce Stakes, a race that has gained a reputation as a “sire shaping” race, with some of the previous winners including Testa Rossa, Canny Lad, Blevic and Kaapstad.
Incumbent is a son of International Horse of The Year in Choisir, and is one of the best performed colonial stallions to ever stand in Tasmania.
While Incumbent as a 2yo year was outstanding, he was unfortunately injured in the Golden Slipper, with his career sadly limited to only 7 race starts. Early reports on Incumbent foals is exceptionally encouraging.
Jayemzed (Aus)
Sire: Lion Cavern (USA) Stud: Bowthorpe Stud Fee: $2,200
JAYEMZED is a lightly raced six year old stallion whose record stands at five wins from only sixteen starts.
He achieved black type status at his last start when injured at Caulfield. He has a magnificent physique standing at 16.2 hh with a gentle disposition.
His balanced pedigree will allow breeder’s access to a grandson of Mr Prospector from granddaughter of Northern Dancer with a strong and consistent winning damline.
His sire Lion Cavern (Full brother to international sire, and sire of sires, Gone West) has produced the current Australian champion sprinter Apache Cat, while his dam, Te Akau, has a 100% winning strike rate for six progeny to race, with two of her sons having black type. She is also the half sister to multiple group winner Steel Phoenix, and the family record continues to build with close relation Think Money placing in the Group 1 AJC Oaks in 2009.
Ladoni (GB)
Sire: Danehill (USA) Stud: Armidale Stud Fee: $3,300
By the sire shaper himself in Danehill, Ladoni is now considered a Tasmanian institution. A regular producer of quality winners, Ladoni’s record shows he can produce precocious 2 yos through to quality stayers who handle both the wet and dry going.
The outstanding mare Lady Lynette is Ladoni’s stand out performer in the current season, representing Tasmania at the highest level during the recent Victorian Spring Racing Carnival.
Ladoni has a winners-to-runners strike rate of 276/155%. Ladoni has produced a total of 17 black type performers in his stud career to date.
Matsqui (AUS)
Sire: Lunchtime (GB) Stud: Broadmarsh Stud Fee: $2750
Matsqui is one of the most under rated stallions standing in Tasmania.
When you consider Matsqui has rarely covered large numbers, his record of producing 51 individual winners from only 87 starters is testament to this son of Lunchtimes ability to produce a smart galloper.
Matsqui has also produced four runners who have secured black type status, additionally he is also the sire several other gallopers with above average ability in Geejayhaitch, Qui Lassie and one of Tasmanian’s current best horses in Matinello.
Mr. Innocent (AUS)
Sire: Mr. Henrysee (USA) Stud: Park Crest Stud Fee: $3,300
Mr Innocent is the only Group 1 winner standing in Tasmania. He was one of the great Sprinter/Milers of his era winning 14 races, 11 of which were Group or Listed.
After commencing his stud career in Queensland, he is now continuing his career at Park Crest Stud.
Mr Innocent averaged 73 mares in his four seasons in Queensland and with many of these now of racing age has managed to produce 56 individual winners from only 102 starters.
Mr Innocent’s progeny has also enjoyed success in Asia, having won races in Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and the super competitive Hong Kong racing circuit.
My Lad (ARG)
Sire: Southern Halo (USA) Stud: Grenville Stud Fee: $3,300
- My Lad is a Group 1 winning son of Southern Halo, a sire line that has achieved a great deal of success in Australia, especially through the deeds of More Than Ready.
- While My Lad has experienced a slow start to his stud career, his progeny are clearly going to mature with age, and this is very evident by the fact he has recently produced two 3yos who featured an abundance of ability in Rayos and Devon Lass.
- If these two gallopers are anything to go by, the progeny of My Lad will be winning their share of races in the coming months.
Partners Choice

- With only three crops of racing age, Partners Choice has already won the leading Tasmanian 2yo sire on two occasions.
- Some of Partners Choice’s better performed 2yos include Pallone, Lord Reginald and Gelignite Speed. In addition, Partners Choice is also the sire of the highly promising Kalangadoo and Myfevola.
- Partners Choice has also had success in Asia, having sired four individual winners from just eight starters.
- The progeny of Partners Choice have proven themselves to be extremely effective on wet tracks, making his offspring ideal performers in regions that race regularly on rain-affected tracks.
Savoire Vivre (GB)
Sire: Sadler's Wells (USA) Stud: Armidale Stud Fee: $4,400
Savoire Vivre has had an outstanding start to his stud career, and on early figures, he could well be on his way to being one of the state’s best ever sires.
By the immortal Sadler's Wells from a triple crown winner in Oh So Sharp, Savoire Vivre has an impeccable international pedigree.
With only four crops of racing age, Savoire Vivre has already produced 66 individual winners from only 110 starters.
This figure also features eight black type performers.
While Savoire Vivre was expected to produce quality staying types, he has also produced multiple black type winning 2yo Rustia and outstanding sprinter/miler Life To The Full, demonstrating his exceptional versatility.
Telesto (USA)
Sire: Mr Prospector (USA) Stud: Armidale Stud Fee: $3,300
Arguably the best bred stallion standing in Tasmania, Telesto has had a solid start to his stud career, having sired 33 individual winners from only 65 starters.
Having served relatively small books in his first few seasons at stud, Telesto has already produced many quality performers including the outstanding 2yo Arapeho, the Hobart and Launceston Cups-bound Stadacona and the flying grey Old Masters.
Torch Relay (Aus)
Sire: Lonhro (Aus) Stud: Park Crest Stud Fee: $4,400
Park Crest Stud is pleased to announce the acquisition of Lonhro stallion Torch Relay who will stand his first season in Tasmania.
Stud Master Philip Swinton said “It is great to get a stallion from such a hot sire line to stand in Tasmania. Being a ½ brother to 3 Group winners in Sports, Medals and Seika he will be very sought after at a very affordable rate”.
Torch Relay was bought by Victorian owners shortly after Sheikh Mohammed purchased the Woodlands operation. Racing under the changed name of Fire Engine Guy he showed plenty of ability but was retired early due to a breathing issue.
At stud he is sure to impress as one of the few sons of Lonhro to stand this season. The owner is determined for him to succeed and has already purchased a number of exceptional Black Type mares to be served by him this year. Philip Swinton said “early signs are good with many enquiries and a good book starting to form already.
” Torch Relay is the last foal of successful Woodlands producer Olympic Flame. The best of her 9 winners was Sports (Zeditave) who won 16 races including the G1 VRC Lightning Stakes and G1 VATC Oakleigh Plate. With Lohnro being third on the Australian Sires list his sons will attract a lot of attention at the sales ring in the next few years.
Tough Speed (USA)
Sire: Miswaki (USA) Stud: Armidale stud Fee: $2,750
Tough Speed has had a flying start to his stud career. Whilst he only covered smallish books in his first few years at stud, breeders are now realising the true potential of this outstanding son of Miswaki.
Tough Speed’s oldest progeny are only four years old, however he has already produced two black type performers in the outstanding Lyell and the tough staying filly Speedy Sky. When you consider Tough Speed has only had 25 horses to the race track, it is a great start to his career. Of the 25 to race, nine have won, with a further eight already placed, which provides a strong indication that winners are sure to keep flowing.
West Quest (USA)
Sire: Gone West (USA) Stud: Grenville Stud Fee: $4,400
With four Tasmanian leading sire titles to his
name, West Quest continues to be one of the state’s leading sires, year in year
out.
With a healthy winners-to-runners ratio
of 204/336%, West Quest has now produced 24 Black type performers.
West Quest’s record shows he is capable of
producing both stayers and sprinters - siring two Tasmanian Derby winners as
well as a multiple 2yo black type performers.
West Quest also has his admirers in Asia, having sired winners in Macau,
Singapore, Malaysia and Korea.
