2010 Catalogue Packed With Black Type Performers

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

The 2010 crop of yearlings are known as the EI yearlings, as they were conceived in the season of the crippling outbreak.  Accordingly, many of the people involved in the organisation and management of the annual Tasmanian sale privately expressed concern at the potential decline in quality of the 2010 offering.

However both sale management, and importantly buyers, can rest easy and it is easy to see why!  The 2010 offering is, without doubt, the most impressive catalogue offered at the annual Tasmanian sale.

Of the 160 lots on offer, 44 have black type performers on the first dam line, with either the first dam having earned black type status during their race careers or the first dam having produced gallopers who have performed at listed level or above.

In addition Tony Williams from Magic Millions, who has inspected all the lots catalogued, believes the 2010 crop are collectively superior types to any catalogue since Magic Millions commenced selling at the Tasmanian sale in 2005.  In fact Williams suggests there are several yearlings amongst the 2010 offering that would hold their own at the Magic Millions January sale.

The 2010 sale offers all buyers an opportunity to purchase a quality horse at an affordable price.  The sale will provide buyers with access to a variety of quality stallions from both local and interstate studs.  Sires represented in the 2010 catalogue include:

Choisir, Bel Esprit, Hold That Tiger, Bianconi, Al Maher, Beckett, Magic Albert, Econsul, Nadeem, Delago Brom, Zenno Rob Roy, Reset, Keep The Faith, Artie Schiller, Estambul, King Of Roses, Ad Valorem, Dash For Cash. Niello, Churchill Downs, Danbird, Lucky Owners, Untouchable, Kempinsky, Al Samer, Gods Own, Gonski, Snippetson, Canny Lad, California Dane, Strada and Savabeel.

In addition, buyers will also be able bid on the local product including proven stallions such as West Quest, Savoire Vivre, Partners Choice, Tough Speed, Telesto, Mr Innocent and Ladoni plus a selection of yet unproven stallions such as Helike and El Maggiore.
