$160,000 of On-going Bonuses for Tasmanian Yearling Buyers

Thursday, January 07, 2010

Chairman of Tasracing Brian Speers is pleased to announce a new joint initiative, with thoroughbred breeding industry body TasBreeders, of a Yearling Sale Graduates Race Series.

Buyers at the 2010 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale will be in the running for a range of exciting ongoing bonuses.  Yearlings catalogued in the 2010 sale, will be eligible to compete in two races exclusive to sale graduates – the 2011 $50,000 Shaw Magic Millions Tasmanian 2YO Classic and the 2012 $50,000 TasBreeders 3YO Yearling Sale Classic.

In addition, the managing owner of each of the three placegetters in the 3YO race, will receive a $5,000 sale credit redeemable at the 2012 Sale.  Buyers must pay the nomination fee of $550 inc GST within 42 days of the sale to be eligible. In addition, sale graduates will be eligible to win eight $5,000 sale credits on selected races leading up to the annual sale each year for the next five years from 2011.

The new race series will supersede the existing $100,000 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.  In recent years, high calibre 2YOs from strong interstate stables have dominated this race, and both Tasracing and TasBreeders believe the new series, restricted to Tasmanian sale graduates, will assist to stimulate the local breeding industry.

Executive Officer of TasBreeders, Brett Williams, congratulated Tasracing for their ongoing support. "TasBreeders is particularly conscious of the need to reward local buyers who support our annual sale and we believe this new range of initiatives will provide local buyers with ongoing rewards for their loyalty to the Tasmanian sale,” he said.

This year’s sale will be held at the Inveresk Showgrounds, Launceston on Tuesday 23 February 2010. For more information, refer to www.tasracing.com.au
